What initially attracted you to work for Errigal?

To work in the picturesque rural setting in Monaghan as opposed to being employed in other counties of course… Well over a decade ago I came across Errigal and was interested in learning more about it, enhanced by it being a local company that was progressive according to those I spoke with then, hence the interest to join and be part of the action. Having gained construction experience in other areas previously from roads, utilities, traditional build’s, etc, in PQS & MC positions, Drylining & subcontracting were least familiar to me, so I wanted a new challenge and that I got, where everyday at Errigal is a school day of learning!

Are there any values or principles of Errigal that resonate with yours?

The can do philosophy in Errigal is a key ingredient in personal and company success. The positive work attitude in Errigal sown by the founders, grown by the personnel and benefitted by our clients is fulfilling – just check out Christmas Wonderland.

What’s your favourite thing about your team?

The unique balance of youth & those young at heart, like Tir na nÓg… The team work well together and are proactive even on the odd quiet day as we continuously evolve via new IT systems, products & clients etc.

Can you share a project or achievement that you’re particularly proud of?

Workwise, each project that I’m involved with teaches & provides something new under the learning category, with One Palace Street, London being a notable example. Having helped to price & secure that high-end apartment contract, not long after joining Errigal & a newbie to drylining, the White book was digested quickly and without salt at times to get up to speed with the various systems, performance requirements and enhanced tolerances etc. So, when this project was completed, especially to everyone’s high expectations there was a feeling of satisfaction that I then applied to subsequent tenders.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?

My middle name is… Gerard… who would have ‘estimated’ that… haha!

I’m a father to a world dance champion, son to Larry Mullen related to the other Larry Mullen Jnr of U2 & grandson to JP who was an all-Ireland musician winner. I keep a few hens, assist with local football teams & enjoy various sports and hobbies.
