How would you describe the culture at Errigal?
The culture at Errigal is something that sets it apart. It’s fast-paced and driven, but there’s also a strong sense of support and team spirit. You’re surrounded by people who are focused, sharp, and not afraid to get stuck in when things need done. There’s a good buzz around the place, every day brings new challenges and new laughs, and there’s never a dull moment. Whether it’s solving problems or winding each other up in the canteen, you feel like you are a part of something solid and moving forward.
How do you collaborate with other departments or teams?
Collaboration across departments feels really natural here. Whether it’s jumping on a Teams call, swapping a few messages (with the occasional well-timed GIF), or catching someone in the office, the vibe is very much “get it sorted together.” From an IT point of view, we’re pretty much the glue when someone’s locked out, blue-screened, or panicking over a deadline and a dead printer. It’s a constant loop of communication, and you build strong working relationships with loads of teams. There’s a mutual respect, we help them stay running, and they keep us busy!
What’s a skill or lesson you’ve learned since joining Errigal?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the real value of communication and patience. Coming from a technical background, it’s easy to focus just on the problem-solving side of IT but here I’ve learned that understanding people, managing expectations, and staying calm under pressure are just as important. Some days it’s less about the fix, and more about how you handle the situation.
What’s a goal you’re currently working towards – professionally or personally?
My current focus and goal is to move beyond day to day help desk support and start stepping into more hands-on IT project work. I’m aiming to get more exposure to things like system upgrades, network builds, and migrations. I’d love to take on opportunities that involve travel, starting around London which I currently do and hopefully expanding to projects across Europe in the near future.
What is your favourite movie and why?
My favourite all-time movie would have to be Barnyard. I don’t know what it is, but I just have memories of watching it vividly and on repeat as a kid, and it made me like the song I Won’t Back Down by Johnny Cash. I’d say that’s one of the best movie scenes ever made. It’s an unpopular opinion, but Barnyard is the greatest movie of all time. Something about the mix of chaos, heart, and talking cows just hits different. No matter how many movies I watch, nothing takes barnyard of the top spot, Over the hedge does come in a close second place though… Thats my movie for the evening sorted now.
